Clock Care Information
Battery Advice – One Six Eight London Clocks
For best performance, we recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries from well-known brands. Always ensure the batteries are new and within date. Poor quality or previously used batteries can cause your clock to stop or lose time.
Please install the batteries correctly, following the polarity symbols (+/-) shown in the battery compartment. Incorrect insertion may cause batteries to overheat or leak. Avoid pushing the battery underneath the terminal, as this could create a short circuit, leading to overheating or leakage.
To maintain accurate timekeeping and reduce the risk of battery leakage or corrosion, we advise regularly replacing the batteries. Larger clocks with longer or heavier hands may consume more power and require more frequent battery changes.
Setting the Time
Always adjust the time using the setting dial on the back of the clock. If your clock has an open face, do not move the hands manually, as this can damage the internal mechanism.
Environmental Suitability & Care
Your One Six Eight London clock is designed for indoor domestic or light commercial use only. It must not be used in environments with high humidity or extreme temperatures, including but not limited to:
-
Bathrooms
-
Greenhouses
-
Conservatories or sunrooms
-
Sheds
-
Swimming pool areas
-
Above cookers or radiators
-
Outdoors
Prolonged exposure to intense heat or direct sunlight (e.g., near fireplaces, stoves, or large windows) can cause parts to warp, melt, discolor, or loosen, potentially stopping the clock. Any damage caused by such conditions is not covered under warranty, and we are unable to offer exchanges or repairs for these issues due to potential internal corrosion.
Corrosion & Rust
If corrosion occurs, it is likely the clock has been placed in an area exposed to moisture or high humidity. This, combined with elevated temperatures, will accelerate rust and corrosion, which can damage both visible and internal components. As such, clocks should only be used in dry indoor environments.
Again, damage from moisture or heat exposure is not covered under warranty, and in many cases, corrosion may make repair impossible.
Hanging Your Wall Clock
Our clocks feature different mounting options, such as metal rims or integrated brackets. Please ensure you use the correct wall fixing for your wall type and clock design. If unsure, consult a professional.
-
The wall must be strong enough to hold the clock securely.
-
Fixings must have a sufficiently large lip to prevent the clock from slipping or falling.
General Care Tips
Keep your clock dry at all times. Avoid damp walls, humid rooms, or environments prone to condensation. Extreme hot or cold temperatures, as well as direct sunlight, should be avoided.
Dust the clock regularly and never use water, abrasive cloths, or cleaning agents, as these may damage the finish or internal components.
Cleaning
Only clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any water, sprays, or chemicals.
